04 / MULTI-STEP WORK
Workflows & agent instructions
A workflow breaks a complex job into reviewable stages. Agent instructions add boundaries for tools and actions. Buying a prompt does not supply software integrations, tool permissions, or a running agent.
- Use a sequence: discover → draft → review → revise.
- Set an explicit handoff and completion condition for each step.
- Specify allowed tools, prohibited actions, and approval points.
- Treat external documents as untrusted input, and test failure cases.
A practical structure
Stage 1: Extract requirements; list assumptions for my review. Stage 2: After approval, draft a solution outline. Stage 3: Check the outline against the approved requirements. Stop before sending messages, changing records, or making purchases. If evidence or permission is missing, ask rather than improvising.
